Catania Shrug, crochet FO

Same striped effect as the Simply Striped Shrug, but made with Catania cotton yarn and size 2.5mm hook. This surely works up faster than the thread version, and its warmer too.
The pattern is called Simply Striped Catania Shrug and its available here on Ravelry ;)
I'm wearing the green sleeveless top with crochet trim, which I bought in 2006 in HK. (almost forgot I had it...) I love green and I admire the finely crocheted motif edging.

Simply Striped Shrug, crochet

This is the first one I made, using two balls of Anchor size 10 cotton thread, white with silver metallic. (I gave this one to my son's g.f.)




Then I had two balls of Anchor yellow thread, so I made another one:



I found me a young model too. She gets to keep the shrug ;)


I wanted a black shrug for myself. I didn't have size 10 black thread, so I used Cannon size 8 thread for this one:

My favorite crochet shrug

I really didn't think I'd be making another one right after the previous breezy shrug... I guess the chilly nights inspired me to come up with a warmer shrug. Besides, I had to continue on where I left off with these (ugh!) shrug projects.
Of course, I still chose cotton thread for my material ;) I also have not gotten tired of this shade of brown, so even if I got lots of other colors in stock, I still bought the 3 balls of cotton thread size 8 for this project. Luckily, the store near our house has the color I wanted.
I also had the magic hook (size 4/0, equivalent to 2.5mm) I wanted to use to create the right tension for the thread. A looser tension will make it more holey than I intended, and a tighter tension will make it heavier.
I'm happy with the result, it looks and feels just right...this is my favorite shrug from now on ;)

Breezy Shrug 2

This is the second one I made from the same pattern.
A simple design which is easy to make, but still I had to frog it several times to get it right ;)

Breezy Shrug - first pattern for 2008

This was actually my last FO for 2007.
Here I am, (last Dec. 30) finishing it so I could wear it at once with my sleeveless brown tank.


Now I can show my modeled pics since I have already finished writing up the pattern ;)

Purple Shrug

This is the 4th (!) shrug I made from my pattern: Shells and Flowers Shrug.
This is size small and I've modified the pattern a little to make it fit snugly.
I used 3 balls of size 10 cotton thread and 2mm Tulip aluminum hook. More details on Ravelry.

Busy Day

This is the view from my sofa where I watch TV and crochet ;) Looks like it isn't going to be a rainy day after all...but it's a welcome break for students (and those who drive them to school) since last Monday and Tuesday, when going to school was difficult because of the rains.

I go outside the door and think its a good day to go to the supermarket or do some window shopping at the mall...
Oops, my car isn't going anywhere today. My brother called on a mechanic to fix it since the oil was leaking. (Now I have a good excuse to go back to the sofa and crochet.)


I also took a snap shot at the construction going on in our place. Work is going full time on my brother's kitchen. Pretty soon he and his g.f's baking business is going to grow...(and maybe our sizes will grow too as we eat the irresistible goodies ;)


Later in the day, I finished another shrug. Unfortunately, its still small :(
...its too tight on my arms.
In case you're wondering, I prefer to take my own pictures on the mirror. Not that I can't find anyone to take the pic, but its much faster this way. And the not so clear pics won't show too much of the flaws ;)










I used up exactly 2 balls of Cannon thread on this one. For the first one (shown on my previous post) I used Anchor Lifestyles thread size 8.

More rains...

More rains expected tomorrow and classes continue to be suspended for the second day. The typhoon that just passed was welcomed though, because of the water shortage and drought (read news). Now another typhoon is coming, but hopefully its not a strong one (more...).

Looks like I'll be staying at home the whole day...and of course, I'll be working on my crochet projects ;)
Here's one I just finished. Its a simple shrug - I wanted one for myself, but unfortunately this one turned out small.
Anyway...I already started on another one :p

Peek-a-boo Shrug - the shrug I made for my sister's b.f.'s niece. Hopefully, they'll send me a picture of her modeling it ;) This was a quick project, and I made it from one skein of Peek-a-boo yarn, made in UK.
