My 5th blogiversary!

May 17, 2010 marks my 5 years of blogging... I can't believe its been that long!
So much has happened all around, but as you can see my blog looks pretty much the same... I guess I myself haven't changed much, except grew older like everyone else :p
Anyways, if you're still here, thanks so much!
I have a good number of visitors everyday, though I only know a few special people who read my blog.
I've met some of you online ever since I was new on the internet ;)

I'll take this opportunity to acknowledge the following people who motivated and inspired me to keep this blog and my crochet happenings alive for the past five years:

Crochet Pattern Central - owned by Rachel Geller, a directory for free crochet patterns found on the web
Crochetville - a neat crochet forum (no glaring ads back then) where I first discovered a crochet community on the internet ;)
Coats Manila Bay, Inc. - esp. to Yumi Aromin and Jackie Reyes, for providing materials and resources and for publishing my designs
Ravelry - the best website ever!...my crochet/knitting fantasy place.
Etsy - best online shop for handmade creations straight from the artists.

To my youngest sister (who's taller and mightier than me), for inspiring me and for modeling some of my creations (and for actually wearing them)!

To my crochet buddies abroad whom I've had the good fortune to know and interact with despite the distance. I have been the recipient of their warm wishes, support and even crafty gifts and special yarns :)

Happy Blogiversary (to me!)

Two years...yay!
I don't have much to say for now except thanks to all of you who became a part of this blog. For all your wonderful and inspiring comments, for the friendship, the virtual hugs, the gifts and warm wishes too.

Now on to my little blogiversary contest -

Two contestants will win a flower choker esp. made by me!
As I'm writing this post, I'm also shuffling up the names...

But first, thanks to all who left comments and participated in my blog contest: Kimberly, Deneen, Sue, Sheila, Lily, Stacie, Tina, Yasmin, Ashley, Kari, Kelly, Lucy and Vik.

Unfortunately, no one got the correct answer to where I got the idea for the choker. But the closest guess is from Lily - because my clue was that it came from a yarn company. The answer is Phildar, its originally from France, and Mani di Fata (Lily's answer) is originally from Italy. So, I hope you will agree that is the closest answer ;)
Here is the cover page of the newsletter where I got the idea for the design.

I already have the instant prize ready and it will soon be mailed. As for the two winners of the choker, I will email you to know what color and length of choker you prefer.
The two winners are... btw, you can thank (or blame) my 17 yr-old son for picking out the winners ;) I could not believe it when I opened the two entries:

Deneen
Tina

Congratulations!!!

Blogiversary giveaway

Hi everyone! I'll be celebrating my 2nd blogiversary on May 17. Yay! I did not want to let it pass without something to remember it by. After all its sort of becoming a tradition among us bloggers ;)
I accidentally came up with an idea for a blogiversary contest...
Well, the idea for this design came from one of the newsletters from a yarn company, which I subscribed to by email. I saw a model with a crocheted flower choker with a few beads in the center. Simple and cute. I made several, using different size of hooks and varying stitch counts. Here are two of my finished necklaces. I modeled the smaller one, its too close to my neck...(I dont have a model's neck, so I blurred the photo ;)

I'll be giving away a flower choker to two lucky visitors of my blog. Just leave a comment on this post for a chance to win :D
One more thing, if you can tell or guess where I got the idea for this design, I'll give a prize too. The first one to give the correct answer will be an instant winner. The contest ends when I draw and announce the winners on May 17.
