Lacey crochet design and a slouch hat coming soon...

Another new week, and I really couldn't wait to show my latest shrug. Its finished, but my camera is out of power... Actually, I couldn't charge the battery since I can't find the cord! So I have to use my old camera, and I bought AA batteries for it :p
I am not totally finished with writing the pattern yet, so the modeled pics would come a little later...
Meanwhile, I'm making a hat. A while back, I had been thinking about coming up with my own pattern for a slouch cap, since its currently in fashion. Just look at all the crochet slouch caps over at Ravelry. (Btw, congrats to Zu for making it on the top list!)

Here's a peek at my hat design:

I used Catania cotton (thanks again to a dear crochet buddy for it). I would probably use up to 2 1/2 skeins of Catania...
The size of the hook is 3mm.
I can't wait to finish and show you this hat!

  1. Hi Mimi,
I'm coming home to Manila in late May and will be there for a month. Last year I was able to get some Lion Brand yarn from Dreams in Glorietta. Can you tell me if there are other yarn shops I can go to? Not really excited about acrylic but if you know any good lace or wool yarn shops I would appreciate if you can point the way.
    Thanks!

  2. Hi Jocelyn,
You can try Dreams again. They might have a different selection now compared to last year.
Sorry, I can't point you to any other yarn shop. I've not been to the malls lately, except in SM Fairview. And you'd have no luck there.
You know, I'm such a fan of cotton threads and I can get it directly from Coats Manila Bay. And I get my yarn fix from my sister and crochet buddies from abroad ;)
    Good luck on your vacation!

  8. It looks like everybody is making hat. I wanted to design a hat also, but the problem is I don't wear hat. I hate making something that I don't wear in the end.
