Free crochet patterns previously published in the crochet calendars...

I'm finally doing something about the crochet patterns that got published in the crochet calendars of not so long ago. I'll be putting it here on my blog for those who'd like to make these projects :)

...still working on the diagrams for my latest design for Coats Manila Bay. Wish it didnt take me too long, but it did. I enjoy crocheting but, (sometimes) I hate writing the patterns and drawing the diagrams. Anyways, I'm eager to start on a new design after I finish everything for the skirt and top that I submitted.
They gave me a lacy stitch pattern, and I hope I'll be able to come up with a tunic top using that. A bikini set is also on the to-do list :p I was given these colorful threads to work with for the next projects ;)

And here so far, are my designs for Project Brave Kids (which I first mentioned in this post)
We are still teaching some of them the basics, but some are already producing finished goods.
I have been inspired to create these designs for the project.

Just want to show you samples of the coasters I made, 6 pcs. per set. Its fun making these small items ;)



Btw, my sister sent me a copy of the creative commons DVD. She said she got it from Lawrence Lessig himself, at a conference in Malta. The topic should very much concern us as artists, creators, and bloggers. Will have to watch the clips first and then I'll post my comments. But if you have time I recommend you see these video clips on Lessig's lectures.

Crocheted Dishcloths and other stuff

I mentioned a few weeks ago in this post that I joined a Kitchen Swap at FiberFreaks. I'm so glad that Kimberly is my swap partner there, since I've known her (virtually) for almost two years now. She was one of my first friends over at crochetville and my very first online customer!
Anyways, here now is the other dishcloth I sent her. This is also my first tunisian crochet project done:

If you want some of those cute little gift box, I got the pattern here. Just print on cardstock, cut, fold and glue at the ends. Really cute, and here is another one. Actually, I tried to locate the homepage, but cant find it for now...

Also, I would like to share the coaster I made from worsted weight cotton yarn. (I got some skeins of the Bernat Handicrafter from Barb in Canada, a year ago...) I love working with the cotton yarn, it works up so fast and its soft ;) The pattern is simple: Rnd 1: 12 dc, Rnd 2: 24 dc, Rnd 3: 48 dc, Rnd 4: 48 sc. Edging: blanket stitch over each sc.

Printed Halter Top

I dont know why I went on to make this, I rarely even wear halters :p But I wanted to see how it looks with the Anchor size 10 multicolor thread. I would have used size 10 also for the bottom half, but I didnt have it so I used Cannon size 8. I used the same pattern, Shell Halter Top (for details follow the link on the sidebar)

Loopy Flowers - free pattern

Hi! I thought its about time I posted another free pattern. This one was done last year in May, and was featured in Design of the month free pattern leaflet by Coats Manila Bay.

Loopy Flowers

Materials:
Small amounts Anchor cotton thread size 10,
or Cannon cotton thread size 8
Crochet hook , 1.50mm or 1.75mm
Ponytail elastic, or pin
Yarn needle for finishing
Instructions:
Note: There are 3 layers of petals, first one is smaller, the second and third are bigger and worked the same way. Each flower has a center front and center back.
First layer petals
Ch 6, join into a ring with sl st,
Rnd 1: Ch 1 (base chain), (ch 12, sc in ring) 16 times, join w/ sl st to base chain. Fasten off.
Second and third layer petals
Ch 6, join into a ring with sl st,
Rnd 1: Ch 1 (base chain), (ch 16, sc in ring) 16 times, join w/ sl st to base chain. Fasten off.
Center front:
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with sl st to 1st sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc, join. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: Sc in each sc, join. (wrong side will be facing up)
Rnd 4: (sc tog the next 2 sc) 6 times, join. (6 sc) Fasten off leaving 12” tail.
Center back:
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with sl st to 1st sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc, join. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, ( sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 4 times, join. (16 sc)
Fasten off leaving 12” tail for sewing.
Assembly: Arrange petals together and sew center front to the three layers of petals. Sew the center back placing a hair elastic or a pin as options.

Crochet Set

I couldnt decide on what wearable to do next, so I just made this basic tank top. I had to do it in multicolor thread, otherwise I would not have finished it, since I wasnt even sure how it would turn out. A plain color would not be inspiring since the stitch is monotonous. I happened to use the same color as the breezy bolero. So here's my crochet set:

Cannon Multicolor Threads, more colors available!

These are 4 of the 10 new multicolors that Coats Manila Bay has to offer. I have made some new designs using these threads. Shown above are close-ups of the stitches on finished items I recently made. I had fun with the pattern, seeing the stripe design come up as I crochet. This is what I was talking about when I wrote on my previous post that I was "crocheting like mad!"... I was quite excited about it, I thought that Coats should publish a booklet featuring patterns with the multicolor-stripe-effect :D I have yet to come up with a wearable, though. Any suggestions?



Just in time, while writing this post, I was told that the new colors are now available for ordering. They gave me a color card for the new colors, and I just scanned this.
(Note: in this scanned image the thread doesnt look shiny, but I guarantee it is the same Cannon mercerized cotton thread that's smooth and shiny.)The photos below show a better view of the threads.
